TF-VI, D.1

At the beginning of the new semester, students change electives courses. The technology teacher starts the course with a lesson on technology safety.  To assist Mrs. Champion, I offered her the use of the website that myself and a two other cohort members created.  The website, Protecting Yourself Online, uses appropriate materials such as videos, online quizzes and interactive activities.  Students were actively engaged while learning how to handle cyber bullying, staying safe while online, and good practices when using the Internet. I questions students over what they had learned through the lessons and videos. Most students were unaware how easy it was to locate a person just by having a little bit of information. Students were also quizzed on how to handle cyberbullying on the Internet and through texting.

Students at the junior high level are clueless that what they put online is permanent and could lead to others tracking their moves or finding out where they live. By allowing students to view videos of actually events and occurrence that have happen make the threat real.
