                                       BYOD Practicum Project Outline

Need Assessment: The major need for our district/campus is technology and
                                 equipment.

        Interviewed: Superintendent, L.Freeman
                               Academic Coordinator, T.Gleghorn
                               Academic Coordinator Assistant, K.Gleghorn
                               BJH Principal: A.Davis
Teachers via survey on Google Docs as an Educational Tool

Project Details:  My principal and I thought that the "Bring Your Own Device"
(electronic devices such as iPads, iTouch, Laptops and iPhone) would
meet the needs of our district by offering technology without the added
expense. The needs extend beyond just having technology available it
expands to assisting students as diverse learners.

Bring Your Own Device training to include Google Docs integration.
Additional need discussed was allowing students to use Google Docs
as an educational tool across the curriculum.

Training:        Google Docs as an Educational Tool.
Creation of accounts
Spreadsheet
BrainPOP
Collaboration
Doc Sharing
Apps

Blogs
Laptops/iPhones/iPads/iPods/Tablets

**Original plan – conduct trainings using Google Docs on iPads.
Due to a budget issue iPads will not be
                                                     purchased prior to training dates.
*** Modified plan- conduct Google Docs training for teachers on
                                                      laptops.

Prior to Training:  Google Docs Survey.  I created a survey on the district website
requesting teachers complete prior to training. The survey will
address the teacher’s current knowledge and usage of Google
Docs as an educational tool and issue to be addressed during
                               training.

Trainings to be held:  March 19th               Introduction to BYOD
March 26th & 28th    Introduction to Google Docs
April 2nd & 4th         Google Docs as an Educational Tool
                                    April 25th                  BrainPOP with Google

*Principal will rotate teachers through training, offering class coverage for
those in attendance.  Required training for the implementation of the
Bring Your Own Device for the 2012-2013 school year.
BrainPOP with Google training afterschool at 5:30 due to STAAR testing.
Simulation - Model class activity using Google Docs with laptops

Implementation – iPhone/iPad and app implementation prior to 2012-2013
